The Windows 11 taskbar, at home on your Mac.
Taskable puts a real taskbar and Start menu on macOS: pinned and running apps, drag to reorder, search that reaches every file, window previews on hover, and a strip of screen that stays yours.
It looks like Windows. It behaves like Windows. It's still your Mac. Built for macOS, light on your machine, and the Dock comes back the moment you quit.
Taskbar
Pinned, running, in order.
Your pins come first and running apps follow. Drag a tile to move it; drop an app or a file from Finder to pin it where it lands. Tiles grow in when something launches and shrink out when it quits, the same way they do on Windows.
- Group a running app's windows into one button, or show one button per window
- Centered or left-aligned; when it gets crowded, a "…" button holds the rest
- Large or small icons, optional window titles, bottom, left or right edge
Start
Your pins, every app, and a search field that's already focused.
The Start menu lists what you've pinned and an A–Z of everything in your Applications folders. Click Start or the search box and just type: results arrive as you go.
- Your Dock's icons come along on the first launch, and Taskable never changes your Dock
- Right-click anything to pin it, unpin it, or show it in Finder
- Lock, Sleep, Log Out, Restart and Shut Down under the power button
Search
Every app, setting and file, grouped and ranked while you type.
Apps and settings appear on the first keystroke, and your files follow a moment later, found the same way Spotlight finds them. The closest name match comes first, then whatever you used most recently, grouped into Best match, Apps, Settings, Documents, Folders, Photos and Music.
- Arrow keys move through the results; Enter opens the selection
- Optionally, search the text inside your documents too
- A preview pane with Open, Show in Finder and Pin to taskbar
Previews
Rest on a tile and see its windows.
A bubble names whatever you're pointing at. For a running app it shows a thumbnail of each window: click one to bring it forward, or close it right there.
- Each thumbnail shows the window as it looks right now
- Right-click a tile for its windows, pin or unpin, and Quit
Space
The strip stays yours.
Windows stop at the taskbar. Resize or maximize one over it and it's nudged back to end where the bar begins, so nothing hides behind it by accident. Moving a window behind the taskbar on purpose is still up to you.
- The Dock is hidden while Taskable runs and restored, settings and all, when it quits
- Works on the bottom, left or right edge, on one display or all of them
Light. Dark. System.
It follows macOS, or you decide.
Every surface is themed. Pick light or dark, or let it follow the system setting, and dial in transparency and blur from solid to see-through.
Every setting, the Windows way.
Edge and displays
Bottom, left or right. Main display, one display you choose, or all of them, each with its own taskbar.
Tray
Wi‑Fi, volume, battery and keyboard at a glance, plus the clock. Click any of them to open its settings.
Transparency
The wallpaper shows through, softened by the system blur, as much or as little as you like.
Your Dock, untouched
Taskable never edits your Dock's pins. It hides the Dock while it runs and puts your settings back when it quits.
Permissions, explained
Taskable asks only for what it needs, says what each permission is for, and shows you which ones are already granted.
Made for the Mac
Runs natively on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, macOS 14 and later. Light on your battery, and it never sends anything anywhere.
Bring the taskbar home.
Taskable for macOS 14 and later, on Steam.
